Installing ESXi fails with the error: Disk error 51, AX=4280, Drive 9F

Symptoms

  • Cannot install ESXi
  • Installing ESXi 4.1 fails with the error:

    Disk error 51, AX=4280, Drive 9F

Resolution

This issue may occur due to an incompatible hardware or faulty media.
 
To resolve this issue:
  • Verify if you hardware is compatible. For more information, see the Hardware Compatibility Guide.
