Solution

Summaries and Symptoms

This patch removes the Ramchecker service from ESX Server 3.5 to solve the following problem.
 
The Ramchecker utility is not supported and does not work on ESX Server 3.5 versions. Starting with ESX 3.5 Update 2, Ramchecker components are removed from the RPMs VMware-esx-lnxcfg and VMware-esx-apps.

On ESX Server 3.5 and ESX Server 3.5 Update 1 systems, the Ramchecker service fails to start. The service console displays an error message similar to the following: 

Starting ramchecker /usr/lib/vmware/bin/ramcheck: error while loading shared libraries: libc.so.6: failed to map segment from shared object: Error 28
