Summaries and Symptoms

This patch fixes the following issues:

  • Harmless I/O error messages similar to the following:

    Dec 19 12:44:30 esxhost1 kernel: I/O error: dev 08:10, sector 0
    Dec 19 12:44:30 esxhost1 kernel: unable to read partition table

    were logged in /var/log/messages when a removable storage device was removed or attached when the drive contained no medium. The automatic partition scan no longer prints these spurious I/O errors.
