esxtop Disk Stats Can Reflect Multiple Paths

Details

The ESX Server 3.5 host can have multiple paths connecting the same device. A path is identified by adapter:cid:tid:lid inesxtop where cid specifies the channel, tid specifies the target, and lid specifies the LUN.

When disk stats are expanded to the LUN level, esxtop displays the path stats. World stats may not always match path stats because I/O from a world can use multiple paths.

Two new commands have been added to help you view the esxtop disk stats: P and E. To view the disk stats down to the path/LUN level for an adapter, type P and the adapter name.

To view the disk stats down to a, t, and l, you can specify the object using the following syntax:
adapter:cid for a channel
adapter:cid:tid for a target
adapter:cid:tid:lid for a LUN/path

Solution

This is a known issue with no workaround.
