Changing the CIM host configuration variables in ESX/ESXi 4.0

Details

You can use the vSphere Client to enable or disable the Common Information Model (CIM) service and CIM providers. You can also set the CIM watchdog polling interval by configuring Advanced Settings variables for the host. In ESX/ESXi 3.5, you can find these variables under the Misc option in the Advanced Settings dialog. In ESX/ESXi 4.0, you can find these variables under theUserVars option.

Solution

To change the CIM configuration for an ESX/ESXi 4.0 host:
  1. Using the vSphere Client, log in to the host or vCenter Server, and select the host in the inventory.
  2. Click the Configuration tab.
  3. Select Advanced Settings under Software.
  4. Select UserVars.
  5. Changes the values of the variables, as required.
  6. Click OK.
