vShield Host preparation: Host not reachable

This is a small but useful tip when you are using the vShield and want to prepare a new ESXi host. The problem is when you click on the vShield tad inside the vSphere client you might see the message “host not reachable”.

Actually a solution around this some basic troubleshooting like ping from the vShield manager to the ESXi host and from the ESXi host to the vShield manager. It works. After that the debug connection command from the vShield manager appliances. It will complete the whole process successfully.

The problem was actually very simple when you try to perform host preparation when in maintenance mode, it brings the message because it is not supported yet. For a successful operation the host needs to be in normal operation mode to be able to connectto vShield.
